A fatal road traffic accident has claimed two lives at Akyem–Akooko along Accra–Apedwa Highway in the Eastern Region.
The tragic crash, which occurred on Saturday, February 14, involved a Kia truck and a Toyota Voxy vehicle.
Preliminary reports indicate that the collision resulted in the deaths of two individuals — one male and one female — who reportedly die on the spot.
Six other victims sustained varying degrees of injuries. They were promptly transported to the Suhum Government Hospital for emergency medical treatment.
Emergency responders arrived swiftly to manage the situation and clear the highway to restore traffic flow.
Authorities are yet to disclose the identities of the deceased, while investigations are underway to determine the cause of the accident.
The Municipal Director of NADMO for Abuakwa South, Ofori Aikins, confirmed the incident to the media stating that the Police is investigating the crash.
