Th Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Christian Tetteh Yohuno has announced the arrest of suspects in connection with a fatal robbery in Kumasi earlier this month.
Addressing a press briefing at the Regional Police Headquarters in Kumasi, the IGP said the incident occurred on 10 February 2026 at Bohyen, where a man was shot and his Toyota Hilux vehicle stolen.

The victim was later identified as Mr Andrews Amankwa, who died at hospital after being rushed there for medical treatment.
The IGP said police investigations led to the arrest of a suspect believed to be the gang leader.
He reportedly died from gunshot wounds sustained during an exchange of fire with officers.
A second suspect, identified as Akwasi Manu, was arrested on 18 February 2026 and was found in possession of a vehicle believed to be linked to the robbery.
He was subsequently arraigned before Circuit Court 2 on 20 February 2026 on a charge of possession of stolen property and remanded into police custody. He is expected to reappear in court at a later date.
Police say investigations are ongoing to track down other members of the robbery syndicate. According to the IGP, the group typically identifies and monitors their targets before striking when the opportunity arises.
He reiterated the Police Service’s commitment to combating violent crime. “No matter how far criminals run, we will pursue them, dismantle their activities and bring them to justice,” he said.
