President John Dramani Mahama is scheduled to hold bilateral talks with Belarusian President Aleksandr Grigorievich Lukashenko today as part of efforts to deepen economic, agricultural and technical cooperation between Ghana and Belarus.
The meeting, which will take place at the Presidential Palace in Minsk, will be followed by a high-level bilateral engagement involving officials from both countries. Four Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) are expected to be signed, marking a significant step in strengthening relations between Accra and Minsk.
President Mahama’s engagements form part of a five-day official visit to Belarus at the invitation of President Lukashenko. The visit is aimed at exploring new opportunities for collaboration in key sectors, including agriculture, trade, technology and industrial development.
Later in the day, President Mahama will address a Ghana-Belarus Business Forum at the Presidential Hotel, where government officials and private sector representatives from both countries are expected to discuss investment and trade opportunities.
The Ghanaian delegation includes representatives from the Ghana Export Promotion Authority (GEPA), the Ministry of Food and Agriculture, the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC), and several private sector organisations.
As part of his visit, President Mahama toured Savushkin Product Joint Stock Company, one of Belarus’ largest agro-processing firms, to gain insights into the country’s agricultural value chain and food processing industry.
The President also visited the Belagro Agricultural Exhibition, where he was introduced to a wide range of modern farming equipment, mechanisation technologies and food-processing solutions.
Accompanying President Mahama are his Advisor and Special Aide, Joyce Bawah Mogtari; Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa; Minister for Food and Agriculture, Eric Opoku; Deputy Chief of Staff (Operations), Stan Xoese Dogbe; and Deputy Presidential Spokesperson, Shamima Muslim.
The visit is expected to pave the way for enhanced bilateral cooperation and increased investment opportunities between Ghana and Belarus.
