The National Council of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has dissolved the Ahafo Regional Steering Committee with immediate effect following the consideration of a report by the party’s National Steering Committee.
A letter signed by the National Chairman, Mr Danquah Bussey Smith, and dated July 8, 2026, said the decision was taken after the National Council considered the findings of a disciplinary committee established to investigate a petition filed by Mr Samuel Awuni and four others against the Ahafo Regional Chairman, Mr Stephen Ntim.
The letter, addressed to the Ahafo Regional Steering Committee and copied to the National Executive Committee, the Chairman of the Council of Elders, and the Clerk of the National Council, said the National Steering Committee had constituted the disciplinary committee to examine the petition.
It said that after receiving the committee’s report and considering its recommendations, the National Council resolved that the committee should be dissolved with immediate effect.
The party directed the Ahafo Regional Steering Committee to take note of the decision and ensure full compliance with the directives of the National Council.
No further details were provided in the statement regarding the reasons for the dissolution or the specific findings of the disciplinary committee.
