The leadership of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) is holding an emergency meeting to review the court’s judgement in the Samreboi mining case involving the party’s Ashanti Regional Chairman, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi.
According to a statement issued by the NPP General Secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong, the meeting is being attended by the party’s national leadership, its flagbearer, and the party’s legal team.
The discussions are focused on assessing the court’s decision and determining the party’s next course of action.
“The leadership of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), together with our Flagbearer and the Party’s legal team, is currently in a meeting to thoroughly review the judgement delivered by the Court… and to determine the appropriate next course of action,” the statement said.
The party indicated that it would announce its official position after the meeting and communicate any decisions arising from the deliberations.In the meantime, Mr. Kodua Frimpong appealed to party supporters to remain calm and united.
“I respectfully urge all members of our great Party to rally behind the leadership during this challenging moment. Let us remain calm, united, disciplined, and steadfast in our commitment to the values and interests of the New Patriotic Party,” he stated.
The emergency meeting follows the conviction of Chairman Wontumi after he was found guilty of the unauthorized assignment of mining rights and facilitating mining operations in connection with the Samreboi mining case.
