A 40-year-old man has been arrested at the VIP Bus Terminal at Kwame Nkrumah Circle in Accra after he was allegedly found transporting 91 parcels of suspected Indian hemp in three suitcases.
The suspect, identified as Roger Borbobli, was arrested on October 29, 2026, following a tip-off that he had arrived at the terminal with the suitcases containing the suspected narcotic substance.
According to the Police, some loading boys at the terminal detected an unusual smell coming from the luggage and alerted officers, who subsequently moved in to arrest the suspect.
A search uncovered 91 parcels of compressed dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp, which Borbobli reportedly valued at GH¢33,600.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the suspect, who identified himself as a farmer from Sovie Kudzra near Kpando in the Volta North Region, allegedly admitted cultivating Indian hemp but said the parcels in his possession were acquired from another farmer, identified only as Benjamin, from the same community.
The seized substances are expected to be sent to the Police Forensic Crime Laboratory for analytical examination.
Borbobli remains in Police custody assisting investigations and is expected to be put before court.
