Coach of Angola’s National team, Pedro Goncalves, has chastised the state of the Baba Yara Stadium pitch after his team defeated the Black Stars in an AFCON qualifier.
Goncalves called out the terrible nature of the playing surface and blamed it for not allowing the two teams to exhibit a better football exhibition in the tight game after his team handed Ghana its first defeat in 24 years at the Baba Yara stadium
Both teams struggled to control the ball on the bad pitch.
The condition of the Baba Yara stadium pitch came into focus in the build-up to the game after images emerged on social media two weeks before the game with the pitch in a deplorable l state but assurances came from the National Sports Authority, who are the managers of the facility of getting it into good shape before the game.
Ghana now occupies the last spot in Group F with Angola and Sudan on top after Sudan, who are coached by Kwesi Appiah, won over Niger by 1-0.
Ghana will play Niger on Monday, September 9, in Morocco.
