Former President John Dramani Mahama has urged Ghanaians to view the upcoming December 7th elections as a pivotal moment in the nation’s history.
Speaking passionately during the National Democratic Congress’ (NDC) final campaign rally in Accra, Former President Mahama called for a united front to deliver a brighter future for all Ghanaians, with a focus on sustainable jobs, good governance, and gender equality.
“It’s not just another election; it’s a defining moment for our nation,” Mahama declared. He emphasized the need for leadership that prioritizes economic growth, job creation, and justice, while eradicating corruption and inequality.
Highlighting the NDC’s vision for job creation, John Mahama pledged to foster a thriving public and private sector to generate sustainable, well-paying jobs. “We will build an economic base that creates opportunities for all—men, women, and youth alike,” he said, stressing the importance of empowering young people to turn their dreams into reality.
The NDC’s Presidential candidate also championed gender equality, vowing to provide opportunities for women and girls to achieve their full potential. “We must ensure women and girls are no longer treated as second-class citizens but are given the tools and opportunities to thrive,” he stated.
Touching on governance, Mr. Mahama reaffirmed his commitment to reducing corruption and creating a transparent, accountable government. He criticized the current administration, accusing it of failing to meet the needs of Ghanaians. “We cannot continue with a government that lacks vision and integrity,” he said, pledging to reduce the number of ministers and streamline government operations for efficiency.
Addressing the youth, John Mahama promised to prioritize their welfare, education, and job prospects. He highlighted the NDC’s plans to create a fair market environment that allows industries to flourish while ensuring workers are recognized and rewarded appropriately.
He also took the opportunity to inspire hope, urging Ghanaians to look beyond past challenges and believe in a brighter future. “We have the power to build a stable, viable economy that works for everyone,” Mahama said. “Together, we can create a Ghana where dreams are realized and justice prevails.”
As the rally came to a close, Mahama expressed optimism about the elections, calling on Ghanaians to vote decisively for the NDC to bring about the change the country needs. “Let’s make history together by building a better Ghana for all,” he concluded.
The December 7th elections are expected to be highly contested, with Mahama and the NDC hoping to unseat the incumbent New Patriotic Party (NPP) government led by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
