A 29-year-old woman, Bernice Asantewaa, is accused of fatally stabbing her husband, Kofi Antwi, 35 to death at Abuakwa-Abakomadi in the Ashanti Region during a confrontation over alleged infidelity on October 31, 2024 .
The incident, reported by local residents, stemmed from ongoing marital tensions allegedly due to infidelity on Bernice’s part. According to brother to the deceased, Joseph Acheampong, ” Kofi the deceased had been experiencing marital difficulties because of his wife’s actions. Despite repeated advice from family members to end the relationship, Kofi chose to stay.
“Before his death, Kofi had been away on a week-long business trip. Bernice had allegedly threatened him with harm if he returned,” Mr. Acheampong recounted.
Upon Kofi’s return, an intense altercation broke out, during which both parties reportedly inflicted stab wounds on each other. Tragically, Kofi succumbed to his injuries.
Bernice Asantewaa is currently receiving medical treatment at Suntreso Government Hospital, while Kofi’s body has been taken to the Okomfo Anokye Teaching Hospital morgue for autopsy.
Police have begun an investigation into the incident.
