The Member of Parliament for Abuakwa South, Samuel Atta Akyea, has criticized the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for losing touch with political engagement and shifting their focus to spiritual rallies.
Speaking to a crowd at Asiakwa during a campaign tour by the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) running mate, Atta Akyea dismissed recent prophecies made by some religious leaders in favor of the NDC, labeling them as mere human predictions rather than divine declarations.
Addressing an enthusiastic crowd, Atta Akyea downplayed the significance of these prophecies, urging Ghanaians not to place too much importance on such spiritual predictions.
He emphasized that elections are determined by the will of the people through the ballot box, not by supernatural declarations. The MP called on political parties to engage voters on substantive issues such as the economy, education, and infrastructure, rather than relying on spiritual interventions.
“It is unfortunate that the same prophet who once insulted Mahama is now declaring victory for him, and the NDC can’t see through these lies,” Atta Akyea remarked. He criticized the NDC for focusing on spiritual rallies instead of engaging with voters on pressing national issues, and he called on political actors to present concrete plans for the country’s development.
Atta Akyea reiterated that while spiritual leaders have the right to their opinions, Ghana’s democratic process should not be influenced by external forces.
He encouraged voters to freely make their decisions based on the policies and plans presented by political parties.
Support for Bawumia and NAPO’s Leadership
The former housing minister Samuel Atta Akyea expressed confidence in the leadership of NPP presidential candidate Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and his running mate, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh (NAPO).
He assured the crowd that the pair is well-positioned to deliver excellent governance for the country, adding that the NDC would “collapse the Free Senior High School” program if given power.
Atta Akyea urged party members and supporters to work hard to ensure victory in the upcoming 2024 elections, stressing that “Mahama cannot become President again, as he is on a spiritual holiday.”
The Abuakwa South MP concluded by urging continued support for President Akufo-Addo’s administration and called on Ghanaians to stand firm behind Dr. Bawumia and Dr. Prempeh for a prosperous future.
