The Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD) has announced the settlement of GH¢2.306 billion to bondholders affected by Ghana’s Domestic Debt Exchange Programme (DDEP), completing its mandatory payment obligations for 2026.
The payment of GH¢2,306,202,372.09 brings to a close COCOBOD’s obligations to holders of bonds affected by the DDEP for the year, according to a press release issued by the Board on Tuesday, September 1.
COCOBOD said it had earlier paid a coupon amount of GH¢376,325,910.09 in March 2026, bringing the total amount paid to DDEP bondholders during the year to GH¢2,682,582,282.18.
The Board also disclosed that it fully settled GH¢162 million in July 2026 to holders of Cocoa Bills who did not participate in the DDEP.
According to COCOBOD, the July payment cleared all outstanding obligations owed to the affected non-DDEP Cocoa Bill holders.
The Board said the settlements demonstrate its commitment to responsible financial management and the systematic repayment of its financial obligations.
It added that the payments form part of broader efforts to strengthen the financial sustainability of Ghana’s cocoa sector under the guidance of the Ministry of Finance.
COCOBOD said the completion of the 2026 payment obligations represents a significant step in its efforts to meet its financial commitments to investors and other stakeholders in the cocoa industry.
The announcement is expected to provide reassurance to bondholders, investors and other stakeholders regarding the Board’s commitment to honouring its debt obligations.
