The Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) has arrested lawyer Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah after he voluntarily surrendered himself to the office to assist with ongoing investigations.
According to a statement issued by EOCO on Thursday, October 1, 2026, Mr. Baffour Awuah, a Senior Partner at Sarkodie, Baffour Awuah and Partners, reported to the EOCO premises at about 10 a.m.
The statement said his appearance followed several months of efforts by the anti-corruption and economic crime agency to secure his attendance in connection with investigations into alleged criminal conspiracy, financial loss to SIC Savings and Loans, money laundering, tax-related offences and other matters.
EOCO said it subsequently commenced the applicable investigative and operational procedures in respect of the lawyer.
“In accordance with those procedures, Mr. Baffour Awuah was subsequently placed under arrest and is currently cooperating with investigators as the investigative process proceeds,” the statement said.
The agency assured the public that the investigations would be conducted professionally and independently and in accordance with due process.
It added that investigators would pursue all relevant lines of inquiry, examine available evidence and ensure that all persons involved are afforded their rights under the Constitution and applicable laws.
EOCO also urged the public to allow the investigative and judicial processes to proceed without speculation or premature conclusions about the culpability of any individual.
The office said it would provide further information when appropriate and legally permissible.
