The Minister for the Interior Muntaka Mohammed Mubarak has imposed a dusk-to-dawn curfew on Walewale and its surrounding areas in the North East Region.
This follows an advice from the North East Regional Security Council.
The curfew, which takes effect from Saturday, February 15, 2025, will be enforced from 6:00 pm to 6:00 am daily until further notice.
In a statement issued in Accra, the government urged residents, including chiefs, elders, opinion leaders, and the youth, to remain calm and seek peaceful means to resolve any conflicts in the area.
Additionally, a total ban on the possession of arms, ammunition, and offensive weapons has been implemented.
Security agencies have been directed to arrest and prosecute anyone found violating this directive.
The Interior Minister, Muntaka Mohammed Mubarak, emphasized the government’s commitment to maintaining peace and stability in the region and called on all stakeholders to cooperate with security agencies.
