As an Asante, a proud member of the Asona Dehyeɛ clan, I hold Asanteman and His Royal Majesty, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, in the highest regard.
No words can diminish the supremacy of our King, nor should we engage in futile debates over tribal superiority in Ghana.
Instead of indulging in distractions, we must focus on promoting our heritage and advancing the initiatives led by Otumfuo.
It is perplexing to witness some Asantes claiming to defend Otumfuo and Asanteman, yet remaining conspicuously silent when our King calls for support to renovate the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital through the Heal Komfo Anokye Project.
Where are the press conferences? Where are the public appeals urging all to contribute to this vital cause? Sadly, their voices are often used to stir conflict rather than unite us behind our King’s mission. This hypocrisy must end.
A true Asante would never ignore Otumfuo’s call for help while pretending to defend his honor. As Asantes, it’s disheartening to watch our revered King, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, appeal for funds to renovate the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, only to be met with apathy from his own people.
This iconic hospital, the second-largest teaching facility in Ghana, serves as a critical healthcare hub, yet it struggles with crumbling infrastructure.
The Asantehene’s 25th Anniversary Legacy Projects are designed to address these issues by providing much-needed infrastructure and services for the health and well-being of our community. But the success of these projects depends on our collective support. Now is the time for Asanteman to rally behind our King’s vision.
The Dire State of Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital
Patients who seek care at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital are met with deteriorating conditions, outdated facilities, and environments that risk their health. Rusty beds, cracked floors, and broken windows have become the norm. The absence of essential firefighting systems, data networks, and basic amenities further exacerbates these challenges.
A Call to Action: Support the Heal Komfo Anokye Project
As Asantes, we must rise above petty quarrels and disinformation. The Heal Komfo Anokye Project is not just about renovating a hospital—it’s a symbol of our dedication to improving healthcare and advancing our community. Rather than fueling negativity, let us channel our energy into supporting this noble cause. Organisations like Paa Solo Tyres, the Council of Ghanaian Chiefs-Holland, and the Vodafone Ghana Foundation have already contributed. Now, it’s time for the rest of us to follow their lead.
How You Can Support the Heal Komfo Anokye Project:
- Raise Awareness about the significance of the project.
- Donate to contribute to the hospital’s renovation.
- Volunteer your skills, time, and resources.
Let’s set aside tribal debates and unite behind Otumfuo’s vision. Together, we can restore the pride of Asanteman and secure a better future for generations to come. The time to act is now.
