The University of Business and Integrated Development Studies (UBIDS) is exploring a strategic partnership with the Embassy of Spain in Ghana and NASCO Feeding Minds to establish a Multipurpose Digital and Language Centre at the university.
The proposed centre is expected to equip students with practical skills in data analytics, digital research, software development and artificial intelligence, while also expanding access to Spanish-language learning.
The proposal was announced when the Spanish Ambassador to Ghana, Ángel Lossada, engaged students of UBIDS in an interactive session on Spain-Ghana relations, international cooperation, education and youth development on Wednesday, September 30, 2026.
The initiative was proposed by the Students’ Representative Council (SRC) President, Isaac Diboro, as part of efforts to deepen international partnerships and expose students to skills and opportunities beyond the classroom.
Speaking on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Emmanuel Kanchebe Derbile, the Pro Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Issaka Kanton Osumanu, said international collaboration was central to the university’s mission of contributing to global development.
He said partnerships with international institutions and diplomatic missions could strengthen UBIDS’ capacity in education, research, innovation and sustainable development.
Prof. Osumanu also commended the SRC for creating a platform that allowed students to engage directly with members of the diplomatic community.
Ambassador Lossada, for his part, highlighted areas of cooperation between Spain and Ghana, including education, economic cooperation, culture and youth development.
He also responded to questions from students on diplomacy and international cooperation during the interactive session.

The proposed digital and language centre would provide a platform for students to develop competencies in emerging digital technologies while gaining language skills that could broaden their access to international education, employment and collaboration opportunities.
The engagement forms part of broader efforts by UBIDS to strengthen links with international partners and create opportunities for students to participate in global knowledge exchange.
The university said the proposed collaboration could deepen access to digital skills, language learning and international opportunities for its student population.
