More than 36 constituency organizers of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Ashanti Region have thrown their support behind Osei Richmond a leading contender for the position of Ashanti Regional Organizer.
The organizers and their deputies demonstrated their support on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, when they accompanied his campaign team to file his nomination forms at the party’s regional headquarters, amid drumming and dancing.
Dressed in campaign-branded T-shirts bearing Osei Richard’s name, the group called on NDC delegates across the region to give the young miner the mandate to lead the party’s regional mobilization efforts and strengthen its grassroots structures.

The organizers believe his election would help the party consolidate its electoral gains in the Ashanti Region, a traditional stronghold of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), and increase its parliamentary representation from seven seats to at least 10.
Okyere Asiedu, the NDC constituency organizer for Afigyase Asokore Constituency, said the party needed to build on its current parliamentary representation in the region by strengthening its organizational structures.

“The NDC can boast of at least seven parliamentary seats in the Ashanti Region, a known stronghold of the NPP, but for us, that is not enough. Considering the work the NDC government, led by President John Dramani Mahama, is doing, we believe that with Osei Richard as our regional Youth Organizer, we can increase our parliamentary seats in the region to 10,” he said.
He described Richond as a committed party member who had demonstrated his dedication to the NDC’s organizational structures across the region.

“Our brother Osei Richard has demonstrated sufficient commitment to the party’s organizational structures in the Ashanti Region. Therefore, we, the constituency organizers and our deputies, believe he is the right person for the job,” he added.
Mr. Asiedu said the regional Organizer’s position required a candidate with a strong understanding of party organization, grassroots mobilization and resource coordination.
He explained that the successful candidate would be expected to coordinate youth-related activities and work with other party structures, including the regional Women’s Organizer and constituency-level youth organizers, to strengthen the party’s presence across the region.
According to him, the constituency organizers had identified these qualities and the necessary commitment in Richmond, prompting their decision to support his candidature.
He further argued that the NDC needed to reorganize and strengthen its internal structures to capitalize on public confidence in the Mahama administration and improve the party’s electoral performance in future elections.
“Ghanaians have clearly seen the good work of the NDC under President John Dramani Mahama’s administration. What is left for us is to restructure our party for yet another victory so that Ghanaians can continue to enjoy the NDC government for eight years,” he said.
“In the Ashanti Region, we want to increase our votes. We have to improve on what we achieved in the 2024 elections, and with Osei Richmond as our elected regional Organizer, I believe this objective can be achieved,” he added.
As Osei Richmond awaits the vetting of his candidature, his campaign team is appealing to NDC delegates across the Ashanti Region to vote for him, describing him as a suitable candidate to lead the party’s youth mobilization efforts and strengthen its organizational base.
