Afia Asantewaa, a renowned Ghanaian singer and performer, has sought the blessings of the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, in Manhyia Palace as she eagerly awaits the results of her second Singathon attempt.
The event, held at the Kumasi Heroes Park during the Christmas festivities, aimed to secure her a place in the Guinness World Records.
Speaking in Manhyia Palace through Kwame Adinkra celebrated media broadcaster, Afia Asantewaa expressed confidence in her performance, attributing her success to Otumfuo’s blessings and the unwavering support of her husband, Kofi Aduonum, and her dedicated team.
“I am optimistic that with Otumfuo’s blessing and the prayers of all Ghanaians, I will make history by breaking the Guinness World Record. This journey has not been easy, but I believe my efforts will pay off,” she stated.
The Singathon, a marathon singing competition, requires participants to sing non-stop for an extended period to achieve a new record.
Afia Asantewaa’s second attempt attracted massive support from fans and well-wishers, who gathered at Heroes Park in Kumasi to cheer her on during the festive season.
Her husband, Kofi Aduonum, expressed gratitude to the Asantehene and the people of Kumasi for their encouragement and support.
He added, “Afia has worked tirelessly, and we are confident this attempt will be successful. We thank Otumfuo and everyone who has supported us on this journey.”
The results of her record-breaking attempt are expected to be announced soon by the Guinness World Records committee. If successful, Afia Asantewaa will etch her name in history as a global icon and a source of inspiration for young talents in Ghana and beyond.
