Government, through the Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD), is today relaunching its free fertiliser programme at Sefwi Wiawso in the Western North Region as part of efforts to increase cocoa production and improve farmers’ incomes.
The programme, which forms part of the government’s renewed efforts to revitalise the cocoa sector, is expected to provide farmers with essential agricultural inputs to enhance productivity and support sustainable cocoa farming.

Held under the theme, “Cocoa Sector Reset: Free Fertiliser for Increased Productivity and Improved Farmer Income,” the initiative is also aimed at motivating cocoa farmers and reducing the cost of farm inputs.
Farmers in 11 districts across the Western North Region are expected to benefit from the programme.
The beneficiary districts include Sefwi Boako, Adjoafua, Juaboso, Bekwai, Bodi, Akontombra, Dadieso, Assam, Bibiani, Enchi and Adabokrom.
In addition to the free fertiliser, cocoa farmers will receive spraying machines and other agricultural inputs to support farm maintenance, improve productivity and enhance the quality of cocoa beans.

The relaunch is expected to strengthen government support for cocoa farmers while contributing to efforts to increase production and improve the livelihoods of farming communities.
The initiative forms part of broader efforts to reset the cocoa sector and ensure that farmers receive the necessary support to sustain production and improve their earnings.
