Prospective New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary candidate for Nandom, Wilson Dabuo, has pledged to rebuild the party’s grassroots structures, reconcile aggrieved members and prioritise education if given the mandate to represent the constituency.
Mr Dabuo, popularly known as Willybob, said restoring party unity, strengthening grassroots organisation and reversing what he described as the decline in educational standards in Nandom would form the central pillars of his parliamentary ambition ahead of the 2028 general elections.
In a statement outlining his vision for the constituency, he said his political ambition was driven by a desire to offer experienced leadership, accountable representation and a renewed commitment to development.
He identified the marginalisation of some founding members, weakening party structures and declining educational standards as three major challenges requiring urgent attention.
On party unity, Mr Dabuoo said members who made sacrifices to establish and sustain the NPP in Nandom during its formative years deserved recognition and a renewed role in the party’s affairs.
He pledged to pursue reconciliation without favouritism and proposed the establishment of a Council of Elders and Founding Members to advise constituency leadership.
“My approach will be reconciliation without favouritism. I will work to restore the recognition and dignity of founding members, reintegrate aggrieved members and establish a Council of Elders and Founding Members to advise the constituency leadership,” he stated.
He also pledged to promote fairness, transparency and due process in resolving internal party disagreements, drawing on his previous experience in party disciplinary administration.
On education, the prospective candidate described the reported decline in Nandom’s once-distinguished academic reputation as a major development concern, promising to make education his flagship priority if elected.
His proposed interventions include improving basic and senior high school infrastructure, advocating incentives and accommodation for teachers, and mobilising support from old students’ associations, development partners, NGOs and the District Assembly.
He further proposed scholarships, mentorship programmes, academic competitions and increased parental involvement as part of efforts to improve educational outcomes.
Mr Dabuo also promised to rebuild the NPP from the polling station level by reactivating dormant executives, strengthening the Youth and Women’s Wings and TESCON, and creating opportunities for young members to assume leadership responsibilities.
He said the party must remain active throughout the electoral cycle rather than becoming visible only during election campaigns.
“Regular meetings, clearly defined responsibilities and effective communication will strengthen accountability,” he said, adding that he would maintain regular community visits, zonal meetings and consultations on local development priorities.
Mr Dabuo said his broader electoral objective was to help the NPP reclaim the Nandom parliamentary seat and secure victory in the 2028 general elections under the leadership of Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.
He outlined unity, organisation and mobilisation as the three principles underpinning his proposed electoral strategy, including consolidating the party’s traditional support base, reconnecting with communities where it had lost support and engaging undecided voters.
The aspirant also cited his political and public service experience as the foundation of his parliamentary ambition.
He said his involvement with the NPP dated back to 2000, having served as Youth Wing Organising Secretary, Youth Wing Lead Speaker and Zonal Secretary between 2002 and 2010.

He was also an Assembly Member for Nandom East from 2006 to 2010 and served on the NPP National Communication Team between 2014 and 2021.
His other party responsibilities included membership of the Central Region Research Committee and chairmanship of the Effutu Constituency Disciplinary Committee.
Beyond politics, Mr Dabuo highlighted his contribution to documenting the history and cultural heritage of Nandom through his 2025 book, A History of the People of Nandom, 1660–1955, published by Peter Lang in New York.
He said his aspiration to represent the constituency was informed by a combination of political experience, public service, academic engagement and commitment to community development.
Mr Dabuo is seeking to lead the NPP in Nandom into the 2028 elections on what he describes as a platform of party unity, responsible representation and development.
