The Member of Parliament for Walewale, Dr Abdul-Kabiru Tiah Mahama, has cautioned New Patriotic Party (NPP) members in the Savannah Region against internal divisions and actions that could undermine the political growth of Damongo MP Samuel Abu Jinapor.
He urged party supporters to recognise and support individuals who invest in the party’s development, warning that internal rivalry could destroy promising political leadership and deny the party the benefits of collective progress.
“Do not be the enemy that will cut down the tree. Because the tree will grow, flower, bear fruits, and produce sweet fruits for all of us to enjoy,” he said.
Dr Abdul-Kabiru was speaking on Friday, October 30, 2026, at the commissioning of the newly constructed NPP Savannah Regional Office Complex in Damongo, funded by Mr Abu Jinapor.
Speaking on behalf of Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin and the entire Minority Caucus in Parliament, he praised the Damongo MP for his contributions to the party, describing him as an important figure in its political and parliamentary activities.
He particularly commended Mr Abu Jinapor’s confidence, articulation and contributions to parliamentary business, noting that his work in holding the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) accountable had earned him recognition within the Minority Caucus.
Dr Abdul-Kabiru also disclosed that the NPP flagbearer, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, had intended to attend the commissioning personally but was unable to do so.
He said Dr Bawumia considered the facility significant, describing it as the first of its kind in Northern Ghana and among the most impressive party office complexes in the country.
According to him, the former Vice President had expressed his intention to visit the Savannah Region to inspect the facility and use it for future party programmes and meetings.
Describes Abu Jinapor as mentor to young MPs
Beyond his contributions to the NPP, Dr Abdul-Kabiru highlighted Mr Abu Jinapor’s role in mentoring younger parliamentarians, revealing that he had personally benefited from his guidance since entering Parliament.
He explained that under Parliament’s mentorship arrangements, he was assigned to the Damongo MP, whose advice and guidance had contributed to his parliamentary experience and development.
He urged the youth and women of the Savannah Region to recognise the importance of mentorship and take advantage of opportunities to develop their leadership capacities.
Dr Abdul-Kabiru maintained that Mr Abu Jinapor’s influence should extend beyond his parliamentary responsibilities to mentoring and empowering more young people from the region.

He also expressed confidence in the working relationship between the Damongo MP, Dr Bawumia and the Minority Caucus, urging party members to give them their full support.
Looking ahead to the 2028 general elections, he expressed optimism about the NPP’s prospects, calling for support for Dr Bawumia’s presidential ambition and Mr Abu Jinapor’s re-election bid in Damongo.
The commissioning ceremony brought together NPP constituency executives from across the Savannah Region, alongside regional party executives from the Upper West, Northern and Bono East regions.
The new regional office complex is expected to provide an administrative and organisational centre for the party’s activities in the Savannah Region.
