The Ministry of Finance held a staff durbar to welcome its newly appointed Minister, Hon. Cassiel Ato Forson (MP), who expressed nostalgia and humility upon reconnecting with staff after his previous tenure at the Ministry between 2013 and 2017.

Addressing the gathering, Hon. Forson reflected on the changes that have occurred since his earlier service but noted that these changes have yet to translate into meaningful improvements in the lives of Ghanaians.

He stressed the urgent need to reset the country’s public financing framework and adopt innovative approaches to drive economic transformation.

“The changes we have seen over the years have not yielded the improvements Ghanaians deserve. There is an urgent need to reset our public financing framework and chart a new course to achieve meaningful transformation,” he stated.

Dr. Forson also highlighted the critical need to curb wasteful expenditure, underscoring the importance of directing resources toward initiatives that promote economic growth and enhance living standards for all citizens.

He pledged his commitment to ensuring that public funds are utilized efficiently and effectively, urging the support of the Ministry’s management and staff to achieve this vision.

The brief durbar, which marked the Minister’s first formal interaction with staff since his appointment, provided an opportunity for Dr. Forson to share his vision and rally the team toward implementing reforms aimed at fostering fiscal discipline and improving the country’s financial health.

The new Finance Minister’s remarks come at a time when the nation is grappling with economic challenges, underscoring his commitment to prudent financial management and sustainable development.
