The United States Ambassador to Ghana, Her Excellency Virginia E. Palmer, has met with Ghana’s newly appointed Minister for Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, to discuss the withdrawal of USAID funding and explore strategies for enhancing healthcare delivery in the country.
During the courtesy visit at the Ministry of Health in Accra, Ambassador Palmer congratulated the minister on his new role and urged him to prioritize efforts that would strengthen Ghana’s health sector.
She assured him that, despite the USAID funding withdrawal, alternative interventions were in place to prevent immediate disruptions to the country’s healthcare system.
Mintah Akandoh expressed his gratitude for the Ambassador’s visit and reassurances. He highlighted the government’s proactive measures to sustain healthcare services, stressing his commitment to building a resilient and efficient system for all Ghanaians.
The discussions reaffirmed the commitment of both parties to collaborate in addressing Ghana’s healthcare challenges and ensuring sustainable improvements in service delivery.
