The Ashanti Regional Minister, alongside the Minister for Sports and Recreation, Hon. Kofi Adams, and officials from Asante Kotoko, has paid a courtesy visit to His Royal Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II at the Manhyia Palace.
The visit was prompted by the tragic passing of Nana Yaw Frimpong, popularly known as Pooley, a devoted Kotoko supporter whose untimely death has shaken the football community.
During the discussions, the delegation reassured Otumfuo of their commitment to ensuring justice for the late supporter and improving security measures in stadiums to prevent similar incidents in the future.
Beyond addressing the tragedy, the meeting also focused on the state of Ghanaian football, particularly the performance of the Black Stars. His Royal Majesty, a well-known football enthusiast, shared his perspectives on strategies to rebuild a stronger, more competitive national team and enhance sports administration in the country.
The Ashanti Regional Minister emphasized the need for collective efforts to make Ghana’s stadiums safer, strengthen local leagues, and restore the national team’s prominence on the international stage.
The visit underscored the government’s and traditional leaders’ shared commitment to fostering a thriving sports environment in Ghana.
