The Ghana Police Service has arrested a suspect in connection with the murder of Yabane Deladem Aku, a 21-year-old final-year Biological Science student at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST).

According to a police statement issued on February 27, 2025, the deceased was found unresponsive behind the Central Laboratory on campus in the early hours of the morning.

Medical personnel from KNUST Hospital confirmed her death before the body was transferred to the morgue for preservation and autopsy.

A preliminary police examination of the body revealed signs of violence, prompting further investigations.

Following a detailed crime scene analysis, authorities arrested the suspect, identified as Daniel Tuffour, who is currently in custody assisting with the investigation.

The Inspector-General of Police has personally reached out to the victim’s family to offer condolences and assure them that justice will be served.

Additionally, police officials have engaged with the university community to discuss collaborative efforts to enhance campus security and ensure the safety of students.

The police have urged the public to remain calm as investigations continue into the tragic incident.
