A devastating rainstorm has left more than 100 residents of the Buoku electoral area in the Wenchi Municipality homeless after it tore through the community on Wednesday evening.

The storm ripped off the roof of the Buoku M/A Basic School and destroyed at least 15 households, according to the Assembly Member for the area, Mustapha Musa.

He told reporters that the school suffered extensive damage, with computers, books, and important documents destroyed by the rain.
Additionally, about seven houses were completely brought down by the storm, forcing many affected residents to seek shelter with neighbors and relatives. The worst-hit areas include Buoku, Abrefahkurom, and Koo Nsoah.

Hon. Mustapha Musa, alongside the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) Zonal Coordinator, visited the affected areas to assess the extent of the damage.
He indicated that a comprehensive report would be submitted to the Wenchi Municipal Assembly for further action.

However, he expressed concern over the lack of relief items from the central government, stating that the Wenchi Municipal NADMO office is struggling to provide immediate support.

He, therefore, appealed to benevolent organizations, individuals, the Wenchi Municipal Assembly, and the Member of Parliament for Wenchi to assist the affected residents.
Authorities are urging swift intervention to provide relief and aid to those displaced by the disaster.
