Women in Livelihood Development (WiLD) has joined the global community in celebrating International Women’s Day 2025, emphasizing the need for swift and decisive action to achieve gender equality.
Under the theme “Accelerate Action,” this year’s celebration highlights the urgency of addressing persistent barriers that women and girls face, including discrimination, violence, and limited access to education and economic opportunities.
Speaking on the significance of the day, Mavis Wiafe, Programs Officer of WiLD, reiterated the organization’s commitment to empowering women and girls to build stronger and more resilient communities.
“Empowering women and girls is not just a moral obligation; it is a necessity for sustainable development,” Wiafe stated. “Today, we reaffirm our commitment to accelerating action for gender equality and creating a world where women and girls have equal opportunities to thrive.”
As part of its advocacy efforts, WiLD is amplifying the call for women’s economic empowerment, access to quality education, and improved healthcare to bridge the gender gap. The organization is urging stakeholders, policymakers, and the public to actively participate in creating a more just and equitable society.
“We invite everyone to join us in celebrating International Women’s Day and working towards a world where every woman and girl can reach her full potential,“ Wiafe added.
WiLD is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting women’s economic empowerment and livelihood development in Ghana, ensuring that women and girls have access to the resources and opportunities needed to thrive.
