As part of its annual tradition, MTN Ghana has once again extended its support to the Muslim community in the Northern Region as they round up the sacred month of Ramadan.

The telecommunications giant has donated essential items including cartons of drinks, boxes of edible oil and tin tomatoes, bags of rice and a ram, as well as a cheque of 10,000 Ghana cedis to aid in the upcoming Eid-al-Fitr celebrations.

Speaking at the donation on Wednesday, the Area Sales Manager of MTN Ghana in-charge of the Northern Regions, Collins Agyei, emphasized the company’s commitment to supporting the Muslim community during this spiritually significant period.

“As we do annually, Ramadan is a sacred period during which our Muslim brothers and sisters undergo a time of spiritual renewal. At MTN Ghana, we recognize this significant occasion and see it as an opportunity to support and appreciate our Muslim community,” he stated.

Collins highlighted that the Muslim community plays a vital role in fostering national unity and contributes significantly to MTN’s business. He further reiterated that the donation was a token of appreciation for their continuous support.

“This is our way of acknowledging their unwavering support for MTN. our motivation stems from the fact that the Muslim community constitutes a significant portion of our customer base. Supporting them during this period is a way of saying thank you and appreciating their contributions to bother our business and the broader community,” he added.

Beyond the donation, MTN Ghana is focusing on enhancing digital financial transactions for customers. MR. Agyei took the opportunity to encourage the use of the MTN MoMo App and MyMTN App, which provide seamless and efficient ways to conduct mobile transactions and manage MTN services.

In response to the donation, Alhaji Abdulai Habibu Mohmmed, Secretary to the Northern Regional Chief Imam, expressed deep gratitude to MTN Ghana on behalf of the Muslim community and the Chief Imam, Alhaji Abdul-Salam Ahmed.

“In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to MTN for this generous donation. This is not the first time they have supported us. For over six years, they have remained committed to this annual gesture, and we sincerely appreciate their dedication to our community,” he said.

Alhaji Abdulai further noted that the donation would go a long way in helping underprivileged members of the community partake in the Eid celebrations with dignity and joy.

“As a religious institution, our primary constituents are the underprivileged. Thanks to this kind gesture, many will now have the opportunity to celebrate Eid in a meaningful way. On behalf of the entire Muslim community, we express our profound gratitude to MTN’s management and board for this support. May Allah bless and reward you abundantly,” he added.

MTN Ghana’s continued support during Ramadan underscores the company’s dedication to corporate social responsibility and its commitment to fostering strong community relationships. The donation is expected to bring joy to many as they mark the end of the fasting period on Sunday March 30, 2025 and celebrate Eid-al-Fitr with renewed spiritual strength.
