A total of 125 suspected stolen cable pieces belonging to the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) have been intercepted in Kotei, a suburb of Kumasi.
The operation was led by the Ashanti Regional Security Coordinator, Captain (Retired) John Kwame Jabari, in collaboration with local security agencies. The cables were discovered concealed within an uncompleted building in the area.
One person has who claim to be owner and ECG sub- Contract who boldly claim ownership of the cable but failed to provide documentation has been arrested by the national security operative and handed over to the Ashanti Central Police Command for further interrogation.
while another different site owner provided documentation to prove that his cable can’t be traced to be part of stolen ECG’s stolen cables from port.

Captain Jabari, Alhaji Tabsoba who were appointed as the Ashanti Regional Security Coordinators in January 2025, has been instrumental in enhancing security operations within the region.

His leadership has been pivotal in addressing various security challenges, including the rampant theft of electrical cables and anti -Galamsey operation in the Ashanti region. until their appointment several Forest reserves were captured by armed illegal miners prevent forest commission staff from entry, however, the narrative has change now through their tough stance against illegal in compliance with the Ashanti Regional Minister Dr. Frank Amoakohene’s in order.
