Former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has made a generous donation of GHC60,000 to Eric Twumasi Ankrah, the National Chairman of the Bawumia Fun Club.
This significant contribution is aimed at assisting Ankrah in obtaining prosthetics for his amputated legs, a testament to Dr. Bawumia’s dedication to supporting those in need within the party.
Earlier, when he was diagnosed with diabetes, Dr. Bawumia covered the cost of amputating his two legs.
The donation was presented by Dennis Kwakwa, the former Ashanti Regional Communications Director, who acted on behalf of Dr. Bawumia.
Kwakwa said“The Vice President said when he came to Adum PZ, he passed through to visit you as well and discussed the amount needed for your legs. We alerted him about it, and he said it was good that we followed up because the man who has done party work for a long time needs our support. He added that it’s an assurance that our party is a good one to join.”
Kwakwa added “His Excellency the Vice President said we should bring you GHC60,000 for your legs. Dr. Bawumia is happy about the good work you have done for the party”.
Eric Twumasi Ankrah in his appreciation expressed heartfelt thanks to Dr. Bawumia over a phone call, acknowledging that despite his struggles with diabetes, Dr. Bawumia was the only one who came to his aid.
“What you have done for me, God richly bless you,” his voice filled with emotion as he expressed his deep gratitude for the timely assistance.
He, however, stressed that when he was diagnosed with diabetes, he had conversations with many party faithfuls, but nobody came to his aid except Dr. Bawumia. Today, Dr. Bawumia has made it possible for him to acquire prosthetics for his two legs that were amputated.
Ankrah, affectionately known as Chairman Akokc, has been a stalwart member of the New Patriotic Party since 1992. His decades-long service to the party has been marked by unrelenting passion and commitment.
Ankrah also extended his appreciation to Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu, the former Majority Leader, and Dennis Kwakwa for their roles in facilitating the donation.
This act of kindness not only underscores Dr. Bawumia’s leadership but also highlights the strong bonds within the party, where members are seen as family and supported in times of need.
