The Minister for Energy and Green Transition, John Abdulai Jinapor (MP), is set to cut the sod for the commencement of construction works on the Anwomaso-Ahodwo GRIDCo Transmission Lines on Tuesday, July 8, 2025.
The ceremony, scheduled to take place at Anwomaso near the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) at 9:00 a.m., marks a significant milestone in Ghana’s ongoing efforts to strengthen energy infrastructure and promote a more sustainable and reliable power supply in the Ashanti Region.
The project, spearheaded by the Ghana Grid Company (GRIDCo), is part of a broader government initiative aimed at enhancing power transmission efficiency and meeting the growing energy demands of Kumasi and its surrounding communities.
According to officials, the new transmission lines will help stabilize voltage levels, reduce system losses, and improve overall power delivery, particularly in the face of increasing urbanization and industrial activity in the region.
Hon. Jinapor is expected to be joined by officials from the Ministry of Energy, GRIDCo, local government representatives, and traditional authorities.
The Anwomaso-Ahodwo Transmission Project is also aligned with Ghana’s green transition agenda, which seeks to modernize the national grid while incorporating sustainable energy practices.
The event is open to the public and stakeholders in the energy and development sectors.
