Armed men attacked a Kumasi-bound Sprinter bus on the Sunyani road in the early hours of Friday, robbing at least 20 passengers of their valuables.
The incident occurred around 1:00 a.m. between Tweapease and Mfensi, near the Moments of Glory Prayer Army (MOGPA).
The bus, with registration number GG 4181-16, was heading toward Kumasi when five gunmen reportedly blocked the road and forced passengers to hand over money, mobile phones, and other belongings.
One of the victims, Effah Samuel, recounted the ordeal in an interview monitored by Kumasimail, describing how terrified passengers complied with the robbers’ demands to avoid harm.
No casualties were recorded, though several victims were left traumatized.
Residents and commuters say the poor condition of the Sunyani road has made the area a hotspot for robberies, with calls mounting for authorities to prioritize repairs and improve security on the stretch.
Police have not yet issued an official statement on the incident.
