The Bono East Regional Minister, Francis Owusu Antwi, has called on the Bono East Regional House of Chiefs to intensify efforts in resolving the increasing number of chieftaincy disputes in the region.
Speaking at the launch of the Prang Traditional Council’s festival and the 60th birthday celebration of Nana Kwadwo Nyarko III, Paramount Chief of the Prang Traditional Area, the minister emphasized that peace is essential for development.

He warned that persistent conflicts, particularly over chieftaincy matters, continue to derail the region’s growth potential.
“Development thrives in an atmosphere of peace, but conflicts, especially over leadership, impede progress,” Hon. Antwi said.
He urged traditional leaders to settle disputes through the judicial committees of their traditional councils, in accordance with laid-down procedures, instead of relying on the courts, which he described as costly and time-consuming.
Nana Kwadwo Nyarko III also used the occasion to highlight pressing challenges in the area, including poor road networks, armed robbery, and recurring conflicts between farmers and Fulani herdsmen.
He lamented that these issues are undermining the socio-economic development of the region.
The Regional Minister further assured residents of Atebubu-Amantin, Pru West and East, and Sene West and East districts that government is committed to improving their road networks.
He said rehabilitating the roads, particularly by addressing dangerous potholes, would help reduce armed robbery incidents.
In addition, Member of Parliament for Pru West, Hon. Dr. Emmanuel Kofi Ntekunu, and District Chief Executive Samuel Agyapong, both underscored the importance of peace and unity. They expressed concern over the persistent chieftaincy disputes and other challenges affecting the district and the region as a whole.
They stressed that unity remains the strongest tool for building resilient communities and fostering national development.
