The Member of Parliament for Asawase constituency in the Ashanti region, Muntaka Mohammed Mubarak, has commissioned a newly completed 400-bed dormitory block and a 24-seater toilet facility for Kumasi Academy Senior High School in the Asokore Mampong Municipality.
The project, which began twelve years ago under his leadership, was intended to address the school’s growing accommodation needs and to enhance the learning environment.
Though construction stalled for several years due to unforeseen challenges, the MP said the original vision remained intact.
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony on Friday, Muntaka described the completion of the project as a “moment of great fulfillment,” noting that the new facilities will significantly reduce congestion and provide a more disciplined, comfortable, and productive environment for students.
He was joined by the Municipal Chief Executive of the Asokore Mampong Municipal Assembly, the Municipal Director of Education, traditional leaders, as well as management and staff of the school.
“These facilities mark another important step in strengthening educational infrastructure within the municipality,” the MP said, expressing appreciation to all stakeholders including traditional authorities, the school’s leadership, the Municipal Assembly, the contractor, and community members whose collaboration ensured the project’s completion.
The Interior Minister reaffirmed his commitment to supporting education in the constituency, adding that collective efforts remain essential in building a stronger and better-resourced educational system for future generations.
