The Ghana Education Service (GES) has condemned an assault on a teacher at Kade Senior High Technical School after a video of the incident went viral on social media.
The teacher, identified as Mr. Michael Quayson, was reportedly attacked by some former students of the school on October 5, 2025.
According to a preliminary report received by GES management, the assault allegedly occurred because the teacher was strict during the invigilation of the 2025 WASSCE Christian Religious Studies paper.
GES said the matter was not reported to school authorities or the Service at the time of the incident and only came to their attention after the video began circulating online.
Management has since taken over the case and launched investigations.
In a statement issued on December 10 and signed by the Head of Public Relations, Daniel Fenny, GES described the act as “unacceptable, unlawful, and a direct affront to the dignity of the teaching profession.”
The Service assured that the perpetrators will face the appropriate sanctions under Ghanaian law and GES regulations.
GES also emphasized its commitment to supporting teachers nationwide and maintaining discipline and exam integrity.
The statement urged students across the country to respect authority and uphold discipline.
