The Ashanti Regional Security Council (REGSEC) has announced a series of enhanced security measures aimed at ensuring a peaceful and incident-free festive season across the region.
The measures were outlined in a press release issued by the Ashanti Regional Coordinating Council following a REGSEC meeting held on Thursday, December 18, 2025.
According to the statement, security presence will be significantly increased throughout the festive period, with joint deployments involving both the Ghana Police Service and the Ghana Armed Forces to safeguard lives and property.
REGSEC also announced a ban on the use of motorbikes without proper registration or functional lights on public roads during the period.
In addition, the sale, purchase and use of firecrackers have been prohibited.
The Council further advised residents to remain vigilant and take responsibility for their personal safety, particularly within their homes and residential areas.
The statement warned that any action or inaction that undermines peace and security during the festive season will be dealt with strictly by the security services.
REGSEC reaffirmed government’s unwavering commitment to maintaining law and order and fostering a peaceful environment for all residents of the Ashanti Region.
“All necessary measures are being implemented to ensure a safe environment for all,” the statement said, adding that the Council remains ready and committed to serving the public in line with its mandate.
The press release was signed by the Ashanti Regional Minister, Hon. Dr. Frank Amoakohene, who wished residents a Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year.
The announcement comes as part of broader efforts by regional authorities to prevent crime and ensure public safety during the Christmas and New Year festivities.
