The Ashanti Regional Coordinating Council (ARCC), through the Regional Security Council (REGSEC), has announced a ban on the sale, purchase, and use of firecrackers during the festive season.
The directive was issued following a REGSEC meeting held on Thursday, December 18, 2025, as part of measures to maintain peace and public safety across the region during the Christmas and New Year celebrations.
According to the Council, the prohibition is aimed at preventing accidents, injuries, and security disturbances often associated with the use of firecrackers during festive periods.
Residents and traders have been cautioned to comply fully with the directive, as any violations will attract strict enforcement by security agencies.
REGSEC emphasized that the ban forms part of broader efforts to ensure an event-free and peaceful festive season in the Ashanti Region.
The Council reiterated its commitment to safeguarding lives and property and urged the public to cooperate with security agencies to maintain law and order throughout the celebrations.
