The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has invited the National Peace Council to participate as a special guest in a Joint Stakeholders Meeting aimed at promoting unity and cohesion ahead of the party’s upcoming presidential primaries.
In a formal invitation dated January 14, 2026, the Presidential Elections Committee (PEC) of the NPP announced that the meeting will take place on Thursday, January 22, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the Asante Hall of the Alisa Hotel in Accra.
The invitation, signed by William Yamoah, Secretary of the Presidential Elections Committee, is addressed to Dr. George Amoh, Executive Secretary of the National Peace Council. It states that the meeting has been convened at the direction of the Committee’s Chairman, Hon. Joseph Osei-Owusu.
According to the PEC, the meeting is intended to create a platform for constructive engagement between key party stakeholders and the NPP’s presidential aspirants. The candidates are expected to benefit from the “counsel, guidance, and statesmanlike insight” of invited stakeholders as the party prepares for its internal contest.
A key highlight of the meeting will be the formal signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) by all presidential candidates. The MoU, according to the party, will be undertaken in good faith and in the spirit of patriotism, loyalty, unity, and party cohesion, committing each aspirant to support the eventual winner of the presidential primary in the collective interest of the party.
The invitation has also been copied to several prominent party figures, including former Presidents John Agyekum Kufuor and Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, Acting National Chairman Danquah Smith Buttey, General Secretary Justin Kodua Frimpong, and Minority Leader Hon. Afenyo-Markin, among others. All presidential candidates and national executives of the party are also expected to attend.
The Presidential Elections Committee expressed appreciation for the continued contributions of stakeholders to the growth, unity, and democratic development of the party and the country.
The meeting is seen as part of broader efforts by the NPP to ensure a peaceful, transparent, and united process as it prepares to elect its flagbearer for the next general elections.
