Fidelity Bank Ghana has donated GH¢50,000 to the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) to support the construction of a press centre in the Ashanti Region.
The donation was formally presented on Thursday, February 5, 2026, when the bank handed over a cheque to the leadership of the Ashanti Regional GJA during a one-day financial sector training programme for journalists, organised by Fidelity Bank.
Presenting the cheque, Julian Opuni, Managing Director (MD) of Fidelity Bank, said the donation was in fulfilment of the bank’s commitment to support the association’s project.
“We received a request from the GJA, and true to our pledge, we are donating GH¢50,000 to support the construction of the press centre,” he said. “We value the work and support of journalists, not only in the Ashanti Region but across the country, and this informs our decision to support such initiatives.”
Receiving the cheque on behalf of the association, Kofi Adu Domfe, Ashanti Regional Chairman of the GJA, expressed gratitude to Fidelity Bank, describing the support as timely.
“We have been working towards building this press centre, and one of our major challenges has been financing. This donation has therefore come at the ideal time,” he said.
Domfe assured that the funds would be used judiciously for the project and appealed to other corporate institutions and stakeholders to support the initiative to ensure its successful completion.
