Ghana’s Ambassador to the United States, Victor Smith, has intensified efforts to attract foreign direct investment (FDI) into the country, engaging potential investors during a high-level roundtable in Los Angeles, California.
The event, organised by Ghana’s Embassy in collaboration with the Office of Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass and the World Trade Center, brought together business leaders, diaspora representatives and institutional stakeholders to explore investment opportunities in Ghana.
Ambassador Smith described the engagement as part of his “investment campaign train” aimed at supporting Ghana’s economic transformation agenda through strategic international partnerships.
Among the prospective investors was legendary musician Stevie Wonder, who is reportedly considering establishing a state-of-the-art recording studio and a private residence in Ghana. In addition, Robinson Helicopter Company, a U.S.-based helicopter manufacturer, is exploring the possibility of setting up an assembly and maintenance facility in the country.

The Ambassador’s presentation at the roundtable focused on Ghana’s investment climate, priority sectors and the government’s commitment to creating an enabling environment for business. Discussions also examined the role of the Ghanaian diaspora in facilitating capital inflows and strengthening international partnerships.
Officials from the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC) and the Minerals Commission supported the embassy’s engagement, providing insights into sector-specific opportunities and regulatory frameworks.

Ambassador Smith reaffirmed the government’s commitment to ensuring that interested investors receive institutional support throughout the investment process. He said the embassy stands ready to facilitate introductions, coordinate engagements with relevant government agencies and private sector partners, and help prospective investors navigate entry into Ghana’s market.
He noted that mutually beneficial collaboration between international investors, the Ghanaian diaspora and the government could serve as a catalyst for sustainable economic transformation.
The embassy has assured potential investors of continued assistance as follow-up engagements progress.
