The Ghana Police Service has arrested a suspect in connection with the murder of University of Cape Coast (UCC) student, Innocentia Atsufui Avinu.
The suspect, identified as Michael Mensah, 39, was arrested by the Inspector-General of Police’s Cyber Vetting and Enforcement Team at the Pedu Lorry Station in Cape Coast following a sustained intelligence-led operation.
According to the Police, preliminary investigations indicate that the suspect, who claims to be a teacher by profession and also works as a driver, allegedly picked up the deceased from Ayensu Plaza within the UCC hostel area.
The Police said the suspect subsequently took Innocentia to Hutchland Beach, where she was last seen.
The arrest follows investigations into the circumstances surrounding the death of the UCC student, as the Police continue efforts to gather further evidence and establish the full facts of the case.
The Ghana Police Service has assured the public that investigations are ongoing and further updates will be provided as the process progresses.
