President John Dramani Mahama has called for stronger collaboration between government and the private sector to accelerate economic growth and advance national development.
Speaking at a strategic Presidential Dialogue with leaders of Ghana’s business community, the President urged companies to form bold partnerships aimed at positioning the country as a leading production and trade hub in West Africa.

“We must work to make Ghana West Africa’s production hub,” he said, encouraging businesses to leverage Ghana’s status as host of the Secretariat of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) to expand trade, deepen industrialisation and enhance regional competitiveness.
The President noted that the AfCFTA presents significant opportunities for Ghanaian enterprises to scale up production and access broader continental markets, stressing the need for innovation and strategic investment to maximise these benefits.

Call for Investment in Sports
On sports development, President Mahama underscored the importance of sustainable financing models to achieve long-term success.
“No country achieves sporting excellence without deliberate funding systems. I invite corporate Ghana to view this not as charity but as a partnership for national development,” he stated.

He urged the private sector to provide strong backing for the Ghana Sports Fund, describing sports as a critical component of youth development, national unity and economic opportunity.
The dialogue forms part of ongoing efforts by the Presidency to deepen public-private collaboration in key sectors of the economy.
