Market queens in Kumasi in the Ashanti Region have appealed to traders to remain calm despite delays in the completion of major market projects, including the Kejetia Phase II and Krofrom Market in Kumasi.
At a press conference in Kumasi, the queen mothers condemned recent threats reportedly issued by some traders against the government, describing such actions as unnecessary and counterproductive.
They acknowledged concerns over the stalled projects but stressed that threats would not accelerate construction. Instead, they called for continued dialogue and cooperation between stakeholders to facilitate the smooth resumption and completion of the developments.
The market leaders also commended the government for previous infrastructure projects in the region, noting that those investments have improved trading conditions across parts of the Kumasi metropolis.
They further urged President John Dramani Mahama to fulfill his commitment to complete the delayed market projects, emphasizing their importance to local commerce and livelihoods.
Speaking on behalf of the group, Madam Grace Agyei Darko reiterated the call for unity among traders, underscoring the need for collective support to ensure the successful delivery of the projects.
