The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has revoked the appointment of Nana Ayeboafo Nkansah Boadu as Chairman of Patrons for the Afigya Sekyere East Constituency with immediate effect.
In a letter dated July 17, 2026, and signed by the Acting National Chairman, Chairman Buttey, the party said the decision was taken on the authority of the National Steering Committee.
According to the letter, the revocation follows what the party described as conduct by Nana Nkansah Boadu that is inconsistent with the dignity, discipline and exemplary standards expected of a Constituency Chairman of Patrons.
The party alleged that he disregarded directives issued by the NPP’s national leadership and engaged in actions considered detrimental to the party’s authority, unity, discipline and orderly administration.
“As Chairman of Patrons for a constituency, you occupy a position of exceptional moral authority within the party, and it is expected of you to show discipline, restraint, loyalty to the party’s constitutional structures, and unwavering respect for decisions lawfully taken by its constituted organs,” the letter stated.
The National Steering Committee further said conduct that falls short of those expectations has the potential to erode public confidence in the institution of the party and undermine its collective cohesion.
It said that after considering the circumstances surrounding the matter, the Committee concluded that Nana Nkansah Boadu’s continued occupancy of the position was no longer in the best interest of the party.
“Accordingly, the Committee directs that your appointment as the Chairman of Patrons in Afigya Sekyere East be revoked immediately,” the letter added.
Copies of the letter were forwarded to the National Steering Committee, the Chairman of the National Patrons, the Chairman of the Council of Elders and the Ashanti Regional Steering Committee.
