The Northern Regional Minister, Hon. Ali Adolf John, has pledged the support of the Northern Regional Coordinating Council (NRCC) to the Tolon Traditional Council and the bereaved royal family following the death of the Paramount Chief of the Tolon Traditional Area, Naa Yab Tolon Naa Abukari Sulemana (Major Rtd).
Hon. Adolf made the pledge when he received a delegation from the Tolon Traditional Area, led by the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Tolon, Hon. Seidu Braimah, which formally notified him of the Paramount Chief’s death.
The delegation, comprising representatives of the Tolon Traditional Council and other stakeholders, said Naa Yab Tolon Naa Abukari Sulemana died on Sunday, August 23, 2026.
It further informed the Regional Minister that the late Paramount Chief had been buried in accordance with the customs and traditions of the Tolon Traditional Area.

The traditional three-day Adua ceremony in his honour has been scheduled for Friday, August 28, 2026.
Expressing his condolences, Hon. Ali Adolf John described the death of the Paramount Chief as a major loss to the Tolon Traditional Area and the Northern Region.
He commended the late chief for his leadership, service to the people and contributions to peace, stability and development during his reign.
The Regional Minister noted that traditional authorities continued to play an important role in promoting peace, unity, development and social cohesion, making the death of a traditional leader of Naa Yab Tolon Naa Sulemana’s standing a significant loss.
He assured the delegation that the NRCC would stand with the Tolon Traditional Council and the bereaved family throughout the mourning and funeral rites and support efforts to ensure a peaceful and dignified funeral.

Hon. Adolf also urged the people of Tolon, particularly the youth, to remain united, peaceful and respectful of the customs and traditions governing the funeral.
He encouraged the bereaved family and the Traditional Council to draw strength from the legacy of the late Paramount Chief and continue his contributions to the development of the Tolon Traditional Area.
The delegation expressed gratitude to the Regional Minister for receiving them and for the condolences, support and assurances extended to the Tolon Traditional Area.
The death of Naa Yab Tolon Naa Abukari Sulemana (Major Rtd) marks a significant loss to the Tolon Traditional Area, with traditional leaders, government officials, family members and residents expected to come together to mourn and honour the late Paramount Chief.
