The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has formally notified the Speaker of Parliament of the appointment of the Member of Parliament for Builsa South, James Agalga, as the new Majority Leader.
In a letter dated August 24, 2026, and signed by the NDC General Secretary, Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, the party said the appointment followed consultations between the NDC leadership and the Presidency.
According to the letter, the appointment takes immediate effect and is intended to provide leadership and coordination for the NDC Majority Caucus in Parliament as it carries out its constitutional and parliamentary responsibilities.
The NDC leadership expressed confidence that Mr. Agalga would work with the Speaker and other Members of Parliament to provide the leadership required to advance the business of Parliament in the interest of the country.
The party said his appointment was aimed at strengthening leadership and coordination within the Majority Caucus.
The notification was addressed to the Rt. Hon. Speaker of Parliament at Parliament House in Accra.
Mr. Agalga, who represents the Builsa South Constituency, previously served in government and has been a prominent figure within the NDC parliamentary caucus.
