The Member of Parliament for Effiduase Asokore, Hon. Dr Ayew Afriye was yesterday officially conferred with the honour of Ashanti Regional Patron of the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Youth Wing, in a ceremony held at his residence in Kumasi.
The occasion brought together youth organisers from across the region, who converged on his residence to formally confer the honour, amid singing and chants in praise of the legislator, reflecting the depth of goodwill he commands among the party’s youth.
The delegation was led by the Ashanti Regional Youth Organiser, Martin Ameyaw, who conferred the honour on behalf of the Youth Wing and commended Dr Afriye for what he described as an unmatched investment of time and resources in supporting the aspirations of young people within the party.
The Ashanti Regional Youth Organizer noted that Dr Afriye’s consistent backing of youth programmes and initiatives had made him a natural choice for the patronage role, describing the honour as a well-deserved recognition of years of quiet but impactful support to the Youth Wing.
“You’re our father and the figure head of the youth of the party in the Ashanti Region” He said.
Receiving the honour, the Effiduase Asokore Constituency Member of Parliament, who also doubles as Liason Coordinator for the NPP Presidential Candidate, Dr. Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia, expressed gratitude to the youth organisers and reaffirmed his commitment to continue supporting the Youth Wing’s growth and development across the region.
He is widely regarded within NPP youth circles as a source of inspiration, particularly for his engagement in grassroots political mobilisation.
Hon. Dr. Afriye also donated Gh 100,000 Ghana Cedis as seed money towards the Ashanti Regional Youth Welfare initiative and urged them to work in unity towards the party’s victory in December 2028.
The conferment ceremony underscores the growing recognition of Dr Afriyie’s role in shaping youth political participation in Ashanti Region, as the party continues to build structures ahead of future electoral contests.
