The Ministry of Education has cautioned parents, guardians and students against forged Computerised School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS) placement slips being circulated on social media.
According to the ministry the slips circulating on social media has been digitally altered to create the impression that students’ original school placements have been changed.
In a statement issued on September 9, 2026 and signed by the Press Secretary, Hashmin Mohammed, the ministry said preliminary checks have established that some of the placement slips circulating online did not correspond with records generated from the official CSSPS platform.
It said the barcodes and QR codes on the purported slips did not match the placement information contained in the documents.
The ministry said its system records and audit logs also did not support claims that students’ placements had been changed.
According to the ministry, the available evidence indicated that the affected documents had been digitally manipulated or altered to mislead parents and students.
It said the circulation of the fake documents had created confusion and anxiety among students, parents and guardians.
The ministry said the matter had been referred to the Cyber Security Authority and other relevant security agencies for further investigation and appropriate action.
The warning comes as the 2026 CSSPS placement exercise continues, with more than half a million Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) candidates already placed, according to figures from the ministry.
The ministry urged parents, guardians and students to disregard unverified placement slips and claims circulating on social media.
It advised the public to rely on placement information obtained through the official CSSPS channels.
The ministry also urged anyone with concerns about a placement to seek clarification through the appropriate official channels. It said legitimate concerns would be investigated and addressed through the established process.
