The Ghana Education Service (GES) has initiated steps to reopen Obuasi Senior High Technical School to continuing students nearly three months after the institution was temporarily closed following disturbances on campus.
In a press release dated October 22, 2026, the GES Management said efforts were underway to resume academic work for continuing students, who have been out of school since August 5.
The closure followed disturbances on the school’s campus, prompting the temporary suspension of academic activities for continuing students.
According to the statement, preparations are now far advanced to facilitate the students’ return to school sometime next week.
The GES, however, indicated that first-year students had remained in school since their reporting date on September 18, while management worked towards arrangements for the return of the continuing students.
The Service assured the public that further updates would be communicated when necessary as preparations progress.
The statement was signed by Daniel Fenyi, Head of Public Relations at the Ghana Education Service.
The planned reopening is expected to pave the way for continuing students to resume their academic activities following weeks of disruption caused by the campus disturbances.
