The Ghana Education Service (GES) has announced that outstanding promotion arrears owed to affected staff are expected to be paid by November 16, 2026.
In a statement dated October 27, 2026, and addressed to all Regional Directors, GES management said it was working with the Controller and Accountant-General’s Department to ensure that all outstanding arrears were paid by the deadline.
The announcement comes after some staff were left unpaid following the payment process for October salaries.
According to the statement, the Controller and Accountant-General’s payment system was closed when inputs were expected to be submitted for processing, affecting efforts to settle the outstanding arrears.
GES management said the system would reopen on October 28, 2026, to allow the necessary inputs to be made and facilitate payment to affected staff by November 16.
The Service also assured staff that discrepancies identified in payments made on October 16, 2026, would be corrected accordingly.
Management expressed regret over the delay and the inconvenience caused to affected staff.
Regional Directors have consequently been asked to bring the information to the attention of all staff awaiting their promotion arrears.
The statement was signed by Prof. Smile Dzisi, Deputy Director-General (Management Services), on behalf of the Director-General of the Ghana Education Service.
