Renowned Ghanaian personality, Kojo Yankah, has sounded the alarm on the country’s escalating cost of living, describing it as “choking” in a candid Facebook post.
The Former Member of Parliament and the Executive Chairman of the Pan African Heritage Museum, Ghana expressed his deep concern about the economic hardship faced by many Ghanaians, particularly pensioners and low-income earners.
“The truth is that the cost of living in Ghana now is choking,” Yankah stated.
“I can’t even look my fellow pensioners in the face. It’s unbearable to think about those struggling to make ends meet on less than GH¢1,000 a month – an amount that barely covers the cost of fuel to my village.”
Yankah’s comments highlight the growing anxiety among Ghanaians as the cost of basic necessities continues to rise. The increasing financial burden is affecting the most vulnerable populations, including pensioners, who are often reliant on fixed incomes.
